Westervelt Lumber knows that a product made from quality Southern Yellow Pine is "green," because we know that wood is a renewable resource. A vast majority of the lumber we produce comes directly from our company-owned certified forests.
Having earned our SFI® Chain-of-Custody Certification in 2009, and FSC® Chain-of-Custody Certification in 2011 we are the only manufacturer in the state of Alabama with dual certification from these industry-leading accrediting organizations. Each wood product we manufacture is stamped accordingly to acknowledge our commitment to sustainable forestry practices, which include protection of special sites and biological diversity, reforestation and productive capacity, and long-term forest and soil productivity, among others.
As stewards of the land it is our duty to contribute a quality product that makes the grade not only from physical building requirements, but also from an environmental perspective. Westervelt Lumber also actively participates in green-building initiatives and trade associations, such as:
The American Wood Council
Southern Forest Products Association
National Alliance of Forest Owners
