As a division of The Westervelt Company, Westervelt Lumber operated as Gulf States Paper Corporation until August, 2006, when the organization was renamed.

Despite the evolution of our name, one thing has always remained consistent: our emphasis on quality.  In fact, "Quality Counts" was the operating motto of our founder, Herbert Westervelt, 122 years ago.

Only the highest-quality Southern yellow pine timber, 60% of it grown in our own SFI-certified forests, is run through our state-of-the-art lumber facility in Moundville, Alabama.  Each log that hits the belt is scanned and assessed for its best use and maximum yield, which results in a highly-efficient production process and allows us to deliver a premium Southern yellow pine product.
